Southern Illinois Critter Fixers is a not-for-profit 501c3 organization dedicated to reducing the population of feral and community cats, as well as improving the lives of existing feral and community cats. We are a group of volunteers being funded through donations and grants.
We are available to address feral cat colonies in Wayne, Edwards, Hamilton, Clay, White, Jefferson, and Marion counties to create a healthier, safer community.
Our Mission
Currently, most humane societies and animal control agencies do not address feral cat populations. Our mission is to help manage this population by spaying and neutering. Each cat that is caught will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, ear tipped, and returned to the area where found, in accordance with state law
Our Vision
We will be establishing feral cat feeding stations in an effort to prevent cats from starvation and make them easier to catch. The vaccinations will help prevent illnesses, including rabies. Ear tipping is done to easily identify which cats have already been altered. Feral cats will be returned to the location found. Small kittens will be tamed down, if possible and rehomed as pets.
How We Work
- We speak with feral and community cat caregivers in each community
- At the caregivers request we schedule them for a spay/neuter of the feral cat
- The cat(s) are crated overnight for surgery the next morning
- They are returned to their original location the evening of the surgery
Donate to Help
Your donation goes towards the cost of transportation and spay/ neuters of feral community cats
